Napoli are ready to enter the transfer battle to snap up Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton after failing to sign a proper Khvicha Kvaratskhelia replacement in January. They’ll have to duel especially with Bayern Munich in the summer, Mediaset reports.

The Bundesliga powerhouse already reached out to him to start setting up the deal. The winger had the chance to move to Al-Nassr in January but preferred staying in Europe. He’ll eye a transfer to a top team to play in the Champions League at the end of the season.

Mitoma has drawn the attention of Napoli, Bayern Munich, and a few other sides with his glitzy performances in his two campaigns and a half at Brighton. He has registered 20 goals and 16 assists in 95 matches with them.

The Seagulls paid just €3M to acquire him from Kawasaki Frontale in 2021 and loaned him to Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium for a season so he could cut his teeth in Europe. The 27-year-old has 26 caps and 8 goals with Japan to his name.

Our Take on Napoli and Mitoma

Unless Noah Okafor somehow has a resurgence and proves to deserve to stay, they’ll have to bring in more than one pacey attacker. Brighton are generally an expensive boutique, but the coffers of the Partenopei will be full, especially if they sell Victor Osimhen well, and they have indeed made some coups from the Premier League in the last couple of years. Moving early and decisively is key in these instances. President Aurelio De Laurentiis would surely like to add another player with an international flair for marketing purposes, but the competition will be stiff.
