Napoli have reportedly submitted a £25.6 million bid to sign Brighton midfielder Matthew O’Riley, according to Sky Sports.
The Italian champions are eager to build on their league-winning season by strengthening their squad.
They have already signed Kevin De Bruyne following his exit from Manchester City. The club are also in talks with Liverpool over a potential deal for forward Darwin Nunez.
Napoli are also keen to bring O’Riley to Serie A ahead of the new season.
O’Riley is a central midfielder renowned for his well-rounded game, sharp passing, and control over the tempo.
He is confident on the ball, often looks to launch attacks and regularly contributes in the final third.
Manager Antonio Conte values this kind of versatility highly, especially in a system that demands adaptability from players.
O’Riley scored two goals and provided four assists for Brighton last season.
The club are not in a hurry to let him go, but are open to talks if their valuation is met. Atalanta have also shown long-term interest in the midfielder.
Roma, now managed by former Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini, have been tracking the player for a while and could make a move.
Several Premier League clubs have also shown interest, although none have made an official approach at this stage.
O’Riley is yet to comment on the rumours, but a summer move could be on the cards soon.
