Napoli have reportedly revived their interest in Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho, as they look to acquire him on a reduced fee.

Garnacho’s time at United is up

Garnacho is not believed to have a future at United after falling out with Ruben Amorim at the end of last season. Tensions between the two had been simmering throughout the campaign but things finally boiled over after the Europa League final.

Angered by Amorim’s decision to start him on the bench for the contest against Tottenham Hotspur, Garnacho publicly cast doubts over his future at the club, while slamming the manager’s decision.

It didn’t help that his brother also took to social media and accused Amorim of throwing the player under the bus. It then emerged that immediately after, Amorim told Garnacho to look for a new club as his services are no longer needed at Old Trafford.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Garnacho is one of five United players who have been given extended time off to aid their efforts to land new clubs.

The Argentine continues to be linked to Chelsea, Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and Al-Nassr. It’s been suggested that his preference is to remain in the Premier League.

Napoli’s failed January swoop for Garnacho

United explored a sale for Garnacho in January but it didn’t materialise. The Red Devils slapped a £60m price tag on him, attracting the interest of Chelsea and Napoli.

The Serie A giants even lodged a bid for the Carrington academy graduate but it didn’t meet United’s valuation, hence it was rejected.

Last month, it was claimed that Napoli had cooled their interest in Garnacho but it appears there has been a drastic change in heart.

Napoli back in for Garnacho

According to The Mirror, Napoli are “back in for” the 22-year-old and are eager to offer him an escape away from United.

The newspaper notes that the Partenopei want Garnacho for £45m, which is significantly lower than the £60m that Amorim’s side want to sanction his sale.

It’s understood that the 20-time English champions are “desperate to get rid” of Garnacho in the wake of his bitter spat with Amorim.

The Mirror add, “United remain in negotiations with Napoli, in the hope of striking a deal with the Italian champions over Garnacho.”

“Napoli want Garnacho to link up with former Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne, who joined them on a free transfer earlier this summer, and former United midfielder Scott McTominay, voted Serie A Player of the Season last term.”

Last season, Garnacho made 58 appearances across all competitions, registering 11 goals and 10 assists in that period.
