Napoli are in advanced talks to sign Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund after positive talks with the Premier League side.
Hojlund has been informed that he is free to leave Manchester United this summer, following the £74m signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
He was not included in the squad to face Arsenal last weekend as the club look to offload Hojlund before September’s transfer deadline.
Several sides in Italy have expressed interest in the ex-Atalanta forward, with Juventus and AC Milan having explored a deal. However, Napoli are now leading the chase to sign the 22-year-old after talks with Manchester United this week.
The Serie A champions want to sign a new forward after Romelu Lukaku was ruled out for around four months with a thigh injury. Napoli have also sold Giacomo Raspadori and Victor Osimhen this summer.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Napoli have held positive talks with Hojlund’s representatives over the move, discussing his role and the club’s long-term project.
Napoli are ready to accelerate a deal if personal terms are agreed. It is understood that Manchester United are seeking a fee in the region of £40m for Hojlund, but may consider a loan-to-buy deal if the player’s salary is covered.
Hojlund has scored 26 goals in 95 games since joining the Red Devils from Atalanta for a £72m fee in 2023.
