Alvaro Morata has given yet another interview with the Spanish media in which he has made it clear that he could leave Spain amid links with a move to AC Milan.

There have been a lot of headlines around Morata in recent days as he continues to give conflicting public statements about his intentions for the future, with the most recent ones coming yesterday when he failed to rule out a move.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is working hard to convince the Spaniard as per multiple reports and it remains to be seen what the final answer will be. Having missed out on Joshua Zirkzee, now set to join Manchester United, the Rossoneri need to secure a striker soon.

It seems they have turned to the former Juventus man because of his experience and the fact that he knows the league well, but it must be said that it would likely be a signing that garners a mixed reaction.

Interviewed by El Mundo, Morata gave a rather honest assessment of what he likes about living in Spain and what he doesn’t like as much, with his comments relayed by Radio Rossonera.

Could you retire from international football after the European Championship?

“It could be, it’s a possibility I don’t want to talk about too much, but it’s probable.”

Have you had any difficulties in Spain?

“Young, handsome, with money, a wonderful wife and beautiful children… What can I complain about? Yes, I know, I know. Many times I am happy, but other times it is difficult for me.

“It is my personality, I am like this, it is hard for me… When I return home I am always super happy, but in front of people I feel naked and perhaps this did not allow me to give everything I had.”

Are you happier abroad?

“Yes, definitely. I’ve said it many times. Especially because people respect me. In Spain there is no respect for anything or anyone.”

Could you stay in Spain?

“Attacked out of envy? Yes, I think so too, it could be. But it’s not pleasant. That’s why I continue to think, even though I’m focused on the Euros, that I don’t know if it’s the best thing for me to stay in Spain.”

You said you’d like to stay at Atletico Madrid a few days ago…

“I said I’m dying to win titles with Atletico, then you have to evaluate what’s worth it and what’s not.”
