Montpellier’s new signing, Victor Orakpo, is setting his sights high for the upcoming season. The Nigerian striker is determined to help his team return to the top flight.

The 19-year-old has made his ambitions for the 2025-2026 season crystal clear. On loan from OGC Nice, he sent a reassuring message to the Paillade faithful.

"I ask the fans to believe in me and my teammates. We will give everything to quickly return to Ligue 1," he declared in an interview with Completesports.

He added: "My goal for this season is to score plenty of goals and provide several assists, which will help the team in our promotion push. The club is full of talent, and we are all determined to give our very best this season."

MHSC won three of its four preseason matches, beating Istres (1-0), Aubagne (3-0), and Bastia (0-1), while suffering a defeat to Rodez (0-2).

"We will work tirelessly to make the supporters proud," concluded the young Nigerian talent.

After finishing at the bottom last season, Montpellier kicks off its Ligue 2 campaign on August 9 at home against Red Star.
