AS Monaco striker Breel Embolo is expected to be out of action for several weeks due to a knee sprain, as reported by Nice Matin. The 26-year-old Swiss forward, who has scored 12 goals in Ligue 1 this season, sustained the injury from a tackle during Monaco’s victory over Ajaccio on March 19th.

Embolo was forced to withdraw from the Swiss national team last week and is set to miss Monaco’s upcoming game against Strasbourg on Sunday, which is the 29th round of Ligue 1. According to Nice Matin, the club will have to make do without Embolo for a longer period of time as he continues to recover from his knee injury.

Monaco are currently third in Ligue 1 standings with 54 points, nine points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. They will hope to have Embolo back in the squad as soon as possible, as he has been a key player in their push for a Champions League spot next season.
