South African broadcaster SABC Sport has reported that South African coach Rhulani Mokwena (38) has recently declined two serious offers from the Gulf as he takes time to consider the next step in his career.Mokwena amicably terminated his contract with Wydad Casablanca, despite it running until the end of June 2027. This split came as a result of underwhelming results and repeated delays in salary payments, which affected his stability at the Moroccan club.
Still according to SABC Sport, Mokwena received a proposal from Saudi club Al-Jandal, who play in the second division, as well as another offer from Qatari club Al-Shahaniya, who compete in the Qatar Stars League. However, he turned both down, feeling they did not align with his ambitions.Meanwhile, Rwandan journalist Eric Ndagijimana reported via his X account (formerly Twitter) that Mokwena had also dismissed other African offers, notably from Young Africans SC (Tanzania), reaffirming that his main goal remains working with Pyramids FC, the recent CAF Champions League winners. With notable spells in charge of Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Wydad, Rhulani Mokwena has built a strong reputation across the continent. His profile remains in demand among clubs seeking both domestic and continental success.
