AC Milan come away from their match against Real Madrid with another win in the bank and an impressive performance to build on, soon after beating Manchester City as well.

As highlighted by Milan News, there were a number of positives on show in Chicago against the Spanish and European champions, as well as some tactical clues for the new season.

Perhaps the overwhelming positive from the game was the performance of Samuel Chukwueze, who is showing that he could be in line for a far more positive season with Milan than the one he had in 2023/24 under Stefano Pioli. He scored the winning goal and was a threat throughout.

The assist for that goal came from 17-year-old Mattia Liberali, who along with 19-year-old Lorenzo Torriani, put in a very impressive display that shows the quality of some of Milan’s young players.

Milan started the game in a 4-2-3-1 and Fikayo Tomori played on the right of the two central defenders, rather than the left. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was played in a deeper midfield role with Ismael Bennacer, which allowed Liberali to play as the No.10.

Milan controlled the game and were dynamic in possession, particularly on the wings. The defence looked very strong, and that still has Strahinja Pavlovic and potentially Emerson Royal to be added to it.
