Yesterday the official announcement came that Mauricio Pochettino will be leaving Chelsea, which means they are on the hunt for yet another manager.

According to what is being reported by Mirror journalist Ryan Taylor, agent Jorge Mendes has put forward the name of Porto boss Sergio Conceicao’s as a potential profile who could replace Pochettino.

Chelsea confirmed on Tuesday evening that the mutual termination of Pochettino’s contract had been enforced despite the fact the Argentine still had a year left on his deal plus a 12-month extension option.

Mendes has formed a ‘close relationship’ with Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly after holding talks over a deal for Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer of 2022 and he contacted him to suggest Conceicao as a candidate.

Having been at Porto since 2017 with 10 trophies to his name, Conceicao signed a new contract until the summer of 2028 but that was under previous president Pinto da Costa. Now Andre Villas-Boas is at the helm, it can be revoked.

The report acknowledges that Conceicao has ’emerged as a strong contender for the AC Milan job’ in recent weeks and Marseille are keen too, while ‘Chelsea sources are yet to acknowledge whether Conceicao is a genuine candidate’ for the vacancy.

Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna and Leicester’s Enzo Maresca are two names that are known to be interesting the Blues at present as they look for a young profile.
