On August 12th, 2023, Tyrone Mings suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during Aston Villa's 5-1 defeat to Newcastle.
After the match, boss Unai Emery declared that the incident was worse than the defeat itself, and indeed the tear kept him out for a whopping 446 days.
Mings missed 70 matches through that period, and so there was a collective gasp when the 31-year-old went down clutching his knee during Aston Villa's match with West Ham United.
After receiving treatment on the pitch, the Villa Park faithful sang the defender's name as he left the pitch in tears.

And although the prognosis is not yet known, it's worth remembering that the pain Mings felt today was in the opposite knee to the one that kept him out for all that time in 2023.
This was just his seventh appearance for Villa in the last two years.
