Joao Felix had a scintillating debut with Milan, and, depending on how the next few months go, he may stay past the season-long spell, but it won’t be easy to pull off. The attacker has a high valuation since Chelsea paid €52M to acquire him from Atletico Madrid.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Rossoneri will attempt to prolong the temporary spell to kick the can down the road. His valuation will naturally decrease over the years given the amortization. An €8M fee would cover his financial cost for 2025/2026.

Instead, if Milan wanted to sign Joao Felix outright next summer, the offer would need to amount to at least €41M for Chelsea to avoid a loss. The figure will go down by about €10M in a year, Calciomercato informs.

A swap might not be totally out of the question. The Blues could be keen on a reunion with Fikayo Tomori and poked around Rafael Leao in the past.

The salary will also be an obstacle, as the Portuguese newcomer makes €8M annually at the moment. He’d be the highest-paid player in the Rossoneri roster at that clip.

Our Take on Milan and Joao Felix

They are in the same boat as Juventus for Randal Kolo Muani, and the solution for these situations tends to become obvious eventually. If he’s stellar, the team will do whatever it takes to keep him around, while if he’s not, it won’t even be a topic of conversation. We’ll see whether his arrival will entice Sergio Conceiçao to change the scheme, or if the coach will use him to prod Rafael Leao, as that’s his most natural role.
