Milan are reportedly keeping a close eye on Giovanni Fabbian, as the Bologna youngster could be a cheaper alternative to Torino’s Samuele Ricci to strengthen their midfield next summer.

The 22-year-old joined Bologna from Inter last summer, with the Nerazzurri retaining a €12 million buy-back clause that allows them to re-sign him for a relatively low fee.

However, they have until next summer to activate this option—a scenario considered unlikely, as Inter have already secured the signing of Petar Sučić from Dinamo Zagreb for a higher fee.

Conversely, Milan are planning a squad overhaul at the end of the season, aiming to bring in young Italian talents to strengthen their identity, with Fabbian’s profile perfectly matching their requirements.

According to Tuttosport, the Rossoneri scouts have attended multiple Bologna matches in recent weeks to observe Fabbian’s performances firsthand and could be prepared to expand the operation by involving other players or negotiating broader terms to facilitate the midfielder’s transfer.

Although the buy-back clause gives Inter priority in any potential deal, Milan could catch them off guard by moving swiftly in the coming months to secure a player who is currently valued far below their reported primary target, Samuele Ricci, for whom Torino are expected to demand around €30-35m.
