Milan coach Paulo Fonseca appears to have found a sound solution by adapting Yunus Musah to the right wing, increasing the balance and freeing the attackers from some defensive duties. On the other hand, if it became the norm, it’d force the management to address the midfield even more urgently since he’s one of the top deputies behind Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders, Calciomercato informed.
The Rossoneri are confident Ismael Bennacer will return soon and well. However, they are wary he can’t be the only solution. Their scouts were in Cagliari to monitor Reda Belahyane closely. He’s a strong candidate because he’s cheap, both in terms of fee and salary. He’s U-22, which helps with the Serie A list. Lazio have started to work on acquiring him too and have a strong rapport with Hellas Verona, though.
Milan are keeping tabs on a few other options. Morten Frendrup remains very high on their wish list. The same goes for RB Salzburg’s Lucas Gourna-Douath, Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, and Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso.
The Rossoneri have also shortlisted Warren Bondo, who’s being tracked by Inter too. He has grown steadily since he became a starter last season. Monza wouldn’t stand in his way if a big team approached him.
The latest tweak has worked out well, but Fonseca is on its third tactical iteration already. The other two, fielding Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata together, and then using Samuel Chukwueze on the right and Christian Pulisic as a no.10, started well too but didn’t have a long shelf-life. Regardless, they need a dependable and versatile addition.
