Mikel Arteta has admitted he remains confident his Arsenal side will get their hands on the Premier League title on Sunday's final day.

Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Tottenham earlier this week elevated them to the top of the table and gave them a two-point lead over Arteta's Gunners heading into their final games of the season.

Arsenal now need to clinch a victory against Everton and hope Pep Guardiola's side succumb to a defeat or a draw at the London Stadium to have any chance of being crowned champions.

While such an outcome would come as a huge shock, Arteta told his pre-match press conference that he continues to believe in his Premier League title quest.

"I'm very optimistic about a positive outcome," he insisted. "It's been one of the biggest weeks for many of us. Now it is the most important moment. I'm really excited, I can't wait for Sunday.

"We have to do our job. Everton are in a really good moment, we have to prove again that we can be better than the opponent and then wish for the best, for West Ham to have a good game, help us fulfil our dreams.

"We are in the last day of the season playing for the Premier League trophy, which has not been at the Emirates since it was built 20 years ago. We have to do our job then see what happens."

Two Premier League trophies will be in play on Sunday, with one sent to both City and Arsenal to ensure whichever side emerges victorious has something to lift.

However, league CEO Richard Masters is understood to be heading to watch Arsenal and would therefore not be involved in any ceremony for City.

Though they sit towards the bottom of the table, Everton are unlikely to be an easy opponent for Arsenal. Under the guidance of Sean Dyche, the Toffees are currently in excellent form, having not suffered a league defeat since mid-April when they were hammered 6-0 by Chelsea.
