After hitting a brace during Napoli’s 3-0 win over Empoli in Serie A on Monday night, Scott McTominay has already improved upon his best ever season at Manchester United, and has now moved into double figures for league goal contributions.

McTominay beats best ever seasonal goal tally

Two former Manchester United players were the stars of the show for Napoli as they closed the gap between themselves and Inter at the top of the Serie A table. The Partenopei are three points off the leaders with six games left to go after a McTominay double, and a goal and two assists from Romelu Lukaku.

McTominay’s brace means that he is now up to eight Serie A goals for 2024-25 so far. His best ever league goals tally came before this point came last season, when he hit seven in the Premier League for United.

The Scotland international also has four Serie A assists to his name this season, on top of his one goal in the Coppa Italia, which means that he has 13 goal involvements across all competitions this term (nine goals, four assists).

Napoli have six games remaining in 2024-25, all of which come against teams currently in the bottom half of the table, aside from Torino, who are currently 10th. Encouragingly for Antonio Conte and his team, Napoli have already beaten all six of their remaining opponents already this season.
