After losing wingback Denzel Dumfries to injury, Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has a ready-made replacement available in Matteo Darmian.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, and via FCInterNews.it, Dumfries is ruled out thanks to an injury that saw him come off against Atalanta in the final Serie A match before the international break.
However, Inzaghi is not facing a crisis at right wingback due to the return to fitness of Darmian, who had been out with an injury of his own.
The former Manchester United and Parma defender has returned to training and is set to use the coming week to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s Serie A clash against Udinese.
It is expected that Darmian will rejoin the group on Tuesday or Wednesday after working on his recuperation from a thigh injury sustained almost a month ago.
Darmian is expected to start against Udinese, but his minutes will be managed as Inter face AC Milan in the Coppa Italia three days later.
