Inter Miami is two days away from facing the LA Galaxy and a week away from the Leagues Cup quarterfinal. The Herons must return to their winning streak after the Orlando City match.
It has been a week full of news regarding the team. Federico Redondo signed and became Elche's new player and Drake Callender join Charlotte FC on a trade.
Nevertheless, Inter Miami also received good news. Lionel Messi is back in training and could become part of the starting lineup against the LA Galaxy.
However, earlier today, Tom Bogert, MLS specialist, confirmed the return of a former Inter Miami player to the MLS.
The offensive midfielder will join the Timbers after terminating his contract with River Plate. The specifics of the deal have not been disclosed yet.
After six months with the Argentine club, Rojas decided it was time to return to the league that witnessed his best version.
Inter Miami signed Matias Rojas as a free agent from Corinthians in April 2024. After nine months with the Herons, the team decided not to renew his contract, and River Plate didn't hesitate to call him.
Afterwards, Rojas played six months at River before signing as a free agent with the Timbers.
A highly talented player with perfect technique, but injuries held him back from achieving his best. With Inter Miami, the 29-year-old midfielder missed five games (48 days) due to an ankle injury.
Once he arrived at River, the story wasn't that different. As part of the Argentine squad, the footballer missed 11 games (59 days) due to three muscle strains.
We will need to see if he can achieve the same form in Portland as he did with Inter Miami.
