Mathys Tel has privately reaffirmed his desire to remain with Bayern Munich this winter in the face of interest from Chelsea, reports in Germany state.
Chelsea have long held an interest in Tel and, amid uncertainty over the future of Mykhailo Mudryk in the wake of his positive drugs test, have started scouring Europe for possible reinforcements out wide.
The Blues' desire to sign Tel was reaffirmed this winter when Bayern Munich made contact over Christopher Nkunku.
While Nkunku is thought to be keen to make the move to Bayern, Sky Sports Germany state Tel, who is yet to score in the Bundesliga season amid fierce competition for places, has stressed a desire to remain with the Bavarian giants beyond this transfer window.
Tel's refusal to listen to offers brings an end to speculation of a potential swap deal involving Nkunku, who has been unable to oust Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea's first-choice striker. Bayern are expected to continue trying to strike a deal for the 27-year-old but could return in summer if they fail to convince Chelsea to sell this month.
For Chelsea, they have been forced to look elsewhere in search of a new winger. Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho and Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens are both of interest to the Blues, who may need further reinforcements after AC Milan established their desire to sign Joao Felix.
Felix was signed on a permanent deal last summer, having previously spent six months on loan at Stamford Bridge, but like Nkunku has been able to force his way into Enzo Maresca's team. Instead, the 25-year-old, who cost Atletico Madrid a gargantuan €126m (£113m) as a 19-year-old, has largely been used in Chelsea's cruise through the Conference League group stages.
