Fally Mayulu has emerged as a potential target for the Foxes

Leicester City are eyeing a move for Bristol City frontman Fally Mayulu.

This is according to a report from Pete O'Rourke, who states that the Frenchman is on the radar of Marti Cifuentes' side, who have yet to bring in a recognised striker this summer, despite the departure of Jamie Vardy at the end of last season.

Mauyulu is out of favour at Ashton Gate, having made just three Championship starts for the Robins since he joined the club for £2.5 million last summer from Austrian side Rapid Vienna.

So far this season, he's played just seven minutes of Championship football, but the recently relegated Premier League side have registered their interest in the 23-year-old regardless.

The 23-year-old has endured a tough time at Ashton Gate since arriving from Rapid Vienna, despite his time at the Robins starting perfectly, with a couple of goals off the bench in his first two games for the club.

Unfortunately, those are the only two times he's scored for Bristol City, and he only managed three league starts under Liam Manning last season before he was loaned out back to the Austrian Bundesliga with Strum Graz.

Sturm Graz won the league last season, but Mayulu didn't contribute much towards it, as a muscle injury suffered in his first game for the club resulted in him missing almost all the second half of the season, before he made his comeback in a cameo bench appearance during the final game of the campaign.

Further injuries delayed his first game under new Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber, but, when fit, he has only made small bench appearances once again for the Robins, and was an unused substitute in their last league game against Derby County.

The 23-year-old may need a new change of scenery and a fresh start just one year after making the switch to Bristol City, and Leicester may be able to provide that.

Leicester still have a Jamie Vardy-sized hole in their squad, after the Foxes legend departed at the end of the season.

Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka are the only recognised strikers at the club. Ayew is yet to score more than 10 league goals in a season in England (although has only played in the Championship for half of a season previously, whilst at Aston Villa), and Daka is yet to truly get out of the blocks at the King Power Stadium.

Whilst this Leicester side has plenty of players outside the main striker position who are capable of finding the back of the net, especially out on the wing, a strong presence up front is still required, something which the Foxes arguably don't possess right now.

Whether Mayulu becomes that is still yet to be known, but his recent track record in the Championship won't get many Foxes fans excited. But he's still 23 and has shown promise elsewhere. It hasn't yet quite worked out for him at Ashton Gate, but he has all the tools to hit the ground running at Leicester if a move were to be made.
