Olympique de Marseille have made an approach to sign Benjamin Pavard (29) on loan from Inter, according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio. Despite the attempt to sign the France international defender on loan, the Serie A club do not intend to allow the 29-year-old to leave the San Siro on a temporary basis before the end of the transfer window.

With their offer rebuffed, Les Olympiens have turned their attention to securing other targets to bolster the defensive options of Roberto De Zerbi before the window closes.

Aguerd instead of Pavard?

West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd has landed in Marseille ahead of a move to Les Phocéens on deadline day, being photographed with Marseille superfan Titi Le Boss this morning at Marignane Provence Aiport. The Morocco defender is set to join the club on a five-year deal in a permanent transfer worth €23m.The experienced defender is set to return to Ligue 1 having previously played for Dijon and Stade Rennais, the latter of which he left for West Ham in 2022. Aguerd spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, and despite returning to the fold under Graham Potter for the ongoing campaign, the centre-back has been earmarked for a move away.
