New Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush says Pep Guardiola was a big factor in his decision to move to the club.
The Egyptian striker has completed a £60m move to the reigning Premier League champions from Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 20 goals in 26 games in all competitions this season.
And speaking to the club following the completion of his move, the 25-year-old discussed his excitement to work with Guardiola.
“This was one of the biggest aspects,” he said. “Pep is a coach that develops players and I’ve found that each player always can become better.
“Always there are some areas where you can become better and I want to learn from him, take all his knowledge, because he’s one of the best coaches in history I would say.
“It’s an honour that he showed interest in me and got me in this team and I can’t wait to prove my qualities on the pitch.”
The versatile Marmoush can play across the forward line and has been used largely as a central striker at Frankfurt this season.
But City’s new signing says he is looking forward to playing alongside striker Erling Haaland and believes he can help the Norwegian, who recently signed a ten-year contract extension with the club, to score even more goals.
“Erling is a goal machine,” he said. “I’m very excited to see him and work with him on the pitch, to learn from him also some things, and hopefully to assist him.
“Hopefully we will enjoy playing together.”
Marmoush also says there is much more to come from him: “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to get on the pitch, meet the team, and start my journey with the club.
“City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past ten years. It’s an honour that they showed the interest in me and that I’m here.
“My last two years were great but it’s just the beginning for me. I’m so happy to be here.”
