Manchester United are languishing in 15th position in the Premier League, and things could have been much worse if not for Bruno Fernandes.
Despite the team’s poor showing, the Portuguese was a beacon of light, netting 19 times while registering 18 assists across all competitions.
He has single-handedly carried the team on his back at times, and the Red Devils are just one step away from reaching yet another Europa League final.
The Portugal international’s impressive form has attracted interest from Real Madrid and as recently relayed by The Peoples Person, Al-Hilal of Saudi Pro League.
The Saudi team want to sign the United skipper before the Club World Cup, scheduled to start on June 14. The Portugal international’s “lawyer and agent met with the management” of Al Hilal reportedly on Monday.
But The Daily Mail have claimed that a concrete offer has not been submitted and the Red Devils are unlikely to sanction an exit for any price.
The report also reveals that Al-Hilal were the team who came close to signing Fernandes last summer and had held meetings with the player’s entourage as confirmed by the Portuguese ace himself.
“Bruno Fernandes could be the target for a big-money offer from Al-Hilal this summer, but Manchester United have no intention of selling their captain.
“The Saudi Pro League club have the funds for a star signing after Mohamed Salah decided to stay at Liverpool, and reports in the Middle East claim that Fernandes’ representatives held talks with Al-Hilal on Monday.
“It’s understood there was initial contact between the two camps last year before Fernandes signed a new contract at United until 2027 with the option of a 12-month extension.
“But United sources said on Monday night there has been no formal offer from Al-Hilal and they would not want to sell Fernandes if a bid comes in.”
Fernandes’s current United deal is valid until 2027 with the club holding the option of triggering a one-year extension.
Amorim has also made it very clear that there is no chance he is letting his talisman leave Old Trafford anytime soon.
