The Red Devils were unable to create many chances or threaten the Aston Villa goal but came closest through captain Bruno Fernandes’ freekick hitting the crossbar in the second half.

Ten Hag will be hoping that his side’s defensive display in front of Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be enough to save his job for the time being.
