Manchester United are in the race to sign French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
Following a poor 2024/25 campaign, the Red Devils are working quickly to improve their squad. They finished 15th in the Premier League with just 42 points under Ruben Amorim.
United have already made moves in the transfer market. They have confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers and are pushing to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
The 22-year-old French striker enjoyed a strong season with Frankfurt, bagging 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.
He has caught the attention of several top clubs in England. Chelsea and Liverpool have been linked with a possible move for him this summer.
Ekitike is renowned for his quick pace and smart movement off the ball. He is a skilful dribbler and is capable of creating chances in tight spaces.
Although he primarily plays as a striker, Ekitike can also move into wide areas to stretch defences. His versatility and sharp runs behind defenders make him a major threat.
Frankfurt value the forward at €100 million. That figure may not put off United, especially with the club desperate to bounce back after a dreadful season.
Ekitike’s numbers could improve in a stronger team. His mix of movement, speed and finishing could be exactly what United need in the final third.
