Manchester United’s goalkeeping department is expected to undergo a major revamp in the summer with multiple stars expected to depart.

Andre Onana’s future is up in the air following a disastrous two years with the club offering his services to Saudi Pro League sides.

Reserve keeper Altay Bayindir has also been linked with a return to Turkey and he has been shaky in almost all the games he has featured in. The Red Devils are also trying to agree a one-year extension with third-choice Tom Heaton.

The situation with the two keepers got so bad at one point that Elyh Harrison, who was out on loan at National League North side Chester FC, was recalled in January and subsequently kept at Old Trafford instead of arranging another loan spell.

Goalkeeping department to be revamped

And the 19-year-old seems to have impressed Ruben Amorim, who prefers to keep him around as opposed to integrating Radek Vitek, who enjoyed a fine loan spell with BW Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga.

In 28 games, the 21-year-old helped keep seven clean-sheets, helping his loan outfit to an historic top-six finish in their second season in the Austrian top-flight.

While the 20-time English league champions are aware of Czechia U20 international’s talents, they prefer Harrison and like Matej Kovar before him, Vitek could be sold to raise funds for Amorim to reinvest as per The Daily Mail.

“Plenty of players are expected to leave United this summer, but it is decision time for goalkeeper Radek Vitek.

“The 21-year-old said his goodbyes to BW Linz after a fine season in which he helped deliver an historic top-six finish in only their second season in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Radek Vitek to be sold

“Vitek is under contract at United until 2027 but insiders have told Confidential that while his talent is not in question, the emergence of Elyh Harrison in the youth setup, plus the desire to go and get a new goalkeeper this summer, could see Vitek follow a similar path to Matej Kovar.”

The report mentions how numerous clubs have been monitoring Vitek and it will be interesting to see what United decide to do.

While the goalkeeper has never made his first-team debut, he impressed in pre-season last summer, winning the Man of the Match award against Rosenborg and has shown a great ability to pull off wonder saves.

Harrison, on the other hand, is not only a good shot-stopper but his ability with the ball at his feet has impressed one and all.
