Manchester United have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Michael Olise as Chelsea have been ruled out of the chase for the winger.

The Red Devils have struggled massively for wing play as a series of unfortunate events have weakened the attack this campaign.

Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho for different reasons have been exiled from the squad and have been sent out on loan to Getafe and Borussia Dortmund.

Erik ten Hag’s big money signing Antony has continued to massively underwhelm and has failed to justify even a quarter of his £86m price tag.

Despite impressing in his limited playing time, Amad Diallo continues to have that playing time tightly rationed.

Finally, the biggest disappointment of all has been the insipid form of last year’s star Marcus Rashford.

Therefore, United have been heavily linked to wingers and Michael Olise has certainly been the most repeated name as it has been reported that he is the only “pre-approved” target by INEOS despite the complexities of a potential deal due to the convoluted nature of his release clause.

The Crystal Palace star is also said to be keen on the deal but the Red Devils have been braced for competition from other Premier League teams such as Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, it seems that the side from Stamford Bridge may make the path a little clearer for the Red Devils and provide the Mancunian side with a significant advantage in the race for the Frenchman.

90Min report that “Chelsea do not currently plan to reignite their interest in Olise and they are not rivalling United for his signature this summer at this stage”.

“Chelsea believe they are well-stocked in Olise’s primary positions, not least because of the success of Palmer, and are prioritising strengthening in other areas instead”.

The Londoners also have the bad experience of last summer when they believed they had triggered a £35m release clause in the winger’s deal but were told this was not the case by the Selhurst Park side.

In further good news for INEOS, the website also reiterates what other sources have said that “Michael Olise would be open to a summer transfer to Manchester United should the Red Devils firm up their interest in him”.

The Frenchman is an incredibly versatile attacker and has been described as despite being “a player still relatively early in his development, Olise has impressed in these different attacking roles. There is no doubt he is an exciting player, and it would seem he has an exciting future, too”.

There is little doubt that this is not the last we have heard of this deal as it seems almost certain at this moment that the Red Devils will intensify their interest in the 22 year old once the curtain falls on this Premier League season next month.
