Two players miss out through injury as Matheus Cunha prepares for first game
Matheus Cunha is set to make his Manchester United debut this weekend after being named in the squad for Saturday’s friendly against Leeds.
Cunha is part of the 29-man squad for the game in Stockholm, which kicks off United’s pre-season before their tour to the US.
Fellow new signing Diego Leon is also part of the travelling party, who flew out on Friday, after arriving this summer from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno.
The squad does not include Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee, who have both stayed at home due to injury.
Manchester United have described their injuries as “small issues” and they are expected to join the squad for the tour to the US later this month.
Several players in the squad for Saturday’s friendly with Leeds will be wearing new shirt numbers.
Cunha, who cost United over £60million, will wear the No10 shirt and fellow newcomer Leon has taken the No30.
Right-back Diogo Dalot is United’s new No2, while Chido Obi has taken No32 and Tyler Fredricson No33.
United will be debuting their new away kit against Leeds, which precedes further friendlies against West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton and Fiorentina.
Bryan Mbeumo, who is set to join in a £71m deal from Brentford, will not feature as his medical is scheduled for this weekend.
