INEOS are not only focussed on first-team recruitment at Manchester United but are also on the lookout for young talents to add to the academy pipeline.
The scouting department is being revamped to ensure the club do not miss out on adding the best young talents as was often the case under the Glazers.
Now as reported by Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), the Red Devils have their eyes on Albacete Balompié’s 18-year-old forward Christian Kofane.
The Cameroonian has been on fire for the Segunda division team, netting six goals from 13 starts while also registering an assist.
The young “sensation” has netted five times in the last seven games, which has attracted the interest of “half of Europe”.
Newcastle United, Aston Villa are among the forward’s other English suitors while Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Villarreal, Real Betis, Lille and AS Monaco are all keeping a close watch on proceedings.
The report mentions that the 20-time English league champions have already made contact with the Spanish side over a potential summer deal.
Kofane has a contract with Albacete Balompié until 2028 having joined in January from Cameroonian side AS Nylon.
Interestingly, the report also mentions that the forward has a release clause worth just €5 million which should not be a problem for INEOS to trigger.
Head of recruitment Christopher Vivell is well-known for plucking young talents like Sekou Kone from Africa and will be hoping to repeat the trick with Kofane.
The first team at United is crying out for quality forwards with Chido Obi recently breaking through after Ruben Amorim grew tired of Rasmus Hojlund’s continued misfires.
It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can win this transfer race.
