(A score of 6 is around average)

OneFootball Video

Altay Bayindir 5 – Good catch to deny Tomáš Souček from close range in the first half, but didn’t cover himself in glory for Jarrod Bowen’s strike in the second period. Could have perhaps got a hand to the strike.

Leny Yoro 7.5 – Superb. Solid and barely put a foot wrong. A number of excellent over-the-top balls to spark United attacks.

Matthijs de Ligt 7 – Did brilliantly in the middle of the three-man defence system. Got across a number of times to snuff out West Ham attacks and made a few crucial clearances and blocks.

Ayden Heaven 5.5 – Won an early penalty for United but was a bit sloppy with some of his passes and touches. Bowen got the better of him for West Ham’s goal.

Amad 6 – Excellent finish but unfortunately, his goal was ruled for offside. Not involved as much as he usually is.

Manuel Ugarte 7 – Combative and busy in the middle of the park. Sublime skills and footwork in the build-up to the offside goal.

Kobbie Mainoo 7 – One of his better performances under Ruben Amorim. Kept it nice and simple, recycling the ball well and kept things ticking. Won the ball high up for United’s second of the match.

Patrick Dorgu 7 – Bright and lively from the start. Constantly bombed forward and caused Jean-Clair Todibo all sorts of problems.

Matheus Cunha 8 – Heartbeat of the team. Aggressive with his press and contributed some nice touches and penetrative passes. Carried the ball well and demonstrated great strength. Also forced Areola into a save early on. Linked up well with Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes 9 – Converted his penalty and produced another top-class finish in the second half to give the Red Devils a comfortable lead

Rasmus Hojlund 4 – Started well, hitting the post with a powerful shot but then faded from there and never recovered.

Substitutes

Tyler Fredricson 6 – Went about his job with minimum fuss. Helped United get over the line.

Harry Maguire 6 – Mostly same as Fredricson. Did OK when he was on the pitch. Big block to keep Lucas Paqueta from breaching the backline.

Luke Shaw 6 – Slotted perfectly at left-centre-back and guided young Diego Leon well. Didn’t shy away from filling in at wing-back if needed to.

Diogo Dalot 5 – Barely assumed advanced positions.

Tobby Collyer 6 – Worked hard as usual and was tidy on the ball.

Casemiro 5 – Didn’t see a lot of the ball but helped United maintain their shape and keep the Hammers from restoring parity.

Diego Leon 6 – Held his own against Premier League opposition. Showed he can handle the physicality and demands of this level.

Mason Mount 5 – Tried to make things happen without much success.

Jack Fletcher 6 – Kept it simple. Nothing really to rave about.

Chido Obi 5 – Wasn’t afforded any service or chances to pounce on.
