Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly weighing up an opening bid for RB Leipzig and Spain international playmaker Dani Olmo.

The versatile attacking midfielder is currently starring whilst away on international duties with Spain at the ongoing European Championships in Germany, where he and his teammates have progressed into the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

Alongside a goal from Manchester City midfield superstar Rodri on Sunday night, Dani Olmo struck for Spain in the last-16 stage against Georgia, as Luis de la Fuente and his players recorded a commanding 4-1 win to reach the last-eight.

Etihad Stadium officials will no doubt be monitoring the performances of a number of player’s at this summer’s European tournament, and the long-standing admiration for Olmo’s abilities across positions may be heightened through his recent showings.

And the latest report has indicated that the Premier League champions may be about to turn that admiration and monitoring into a concrete bid for the playmaker, as Pep Guardiola targets a refreshed squad for what could be his final campaign in charge of the club.

That is according to a new report from The Sun, who claim that Manchester City are now considering a return bid for RB Leipzig and Spanish international midfielder Dani Olmo, who was on their transfer wish list 12 months ago.

The 26-year-old has a £60 million release clause in his current Bundesliga contract that remains active until July 15, and the report also highlights that the two clubs have good relations after the deal over Josko Gvardiol last summer.

There remains a possibility that Manchester City could yet sign more than one midfielder this summer too, with the club holding an interest in Newcastle United and Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes.

The 26-year-old had an active release clause in his existing St James’ Park contract earlier this summer worth a reported £100 million, however Manchester City turned down the opportunity to meet at such a figure with the clause subsequently expiring.

Despite the club now having been forced into negotiations with Newcastle bosses should they concretely pursue Guimaraes in the coming weeks, there remains hope within the Etihad Stadium offices that a deal can be done, and for less than the release clause valuation.
