Manchester City will look to build on their win on the opening weekend of the Premier League, as they return home to the Etihad Stadium with a match against Tottenham.
Last time out, the Cityzens visited Molineux in the West Midlands for a match against Wolves and an affair that turned into a statement 4-0 victory. Erling Haaland opened the scoring in the 34th minute, after a Rico Lewis cross found his boot, putting the ball into the net.
Moments later, Tijjani Reijnders would go on to bag his first goal for the club in the English top-flight, while he would also record his first competitive assist for the aforementioned Norwegian’s second goal of the contest.
In the closing minutes of the outing, Rayan Cherki would also find the back of Wolves’ net, making him the second Manchester City debutant in the Premier League to produce on the offensive end of the pitch.
On the other side of Saturday’s ticket sit Tottenham, who cruised to a 3-0 victory of their own over Burnley in their opening match of the season, with Richarlison netting a brace, with his second effort being an astounding bicycle kick in the 60th minute.

Two players who missed out on the action during opening weekend were Phil Foden and Rodri, with the partnership sitting out due to a lack of training. However, it appears that the two will be set to kick off their campaigns on Saturday, with Pep Guardiola saying that they could return against Tottenham.
While James Trafford made his debut for his boyhood club last weekend, he may not be between the posts for the Sky Blues on Saturday, as Guardiola isn’t leaving out the possibility of Ederson rejoining the fray. The 32-year-old sat out of the season opener owing to illness, but also amid serious transfer talks involving Galatasaray.
The only players who are confirmed by the Catalan manager to miss out on the match against Spurs are Josko Gvardiol, Marcus Bettinelli, Mateo Kovacic, and Savinho.
Out of their last five meetings in all competitions, the Blue Moon has prevailed over the North London side, as the Mancunians have taken home three of the fixtures.
On Thomas Frank’s new role:
“I don’t have any doubt that Thomas will do an incredible job in a big, big club, like he has done in Brentford, no doubts. He’s a top-class manager in different scenarios, in different alternatives to how they can play, and we saw it when he was in Brentford.”
On Rodri’s return:
“I just want a consistent Rodri, that’s all. I don’t have any doubts about his potential, quality – still, so far, he’s the best player in the world. In a few months, a new one will be elected, but still he is. I don’t have any doubts, just consistency; training, weeks, training, weeks, games, minutes, and after everything will be fine…”
On why he hasn’t confirmed Ederson to start on Saturday:
“We’ll see tomorrow [Saturday]. We’ll see the side, he’s had training good, we’ll see. We’ll talk with Xabi [Mancisidor] and we’ll see, because until after the Brighton game, the transfer window is over, and after, ‘OK, now it’s done’. Now everything is, ‘What’s going to happen?’”
