The Etihad Stadium will have a brand new look for this weekend’s opening home game for Manchester City of the 2025/26 season, it can now be revealed.

Having been denied a fifth successive Premier League crown by Arne Slot’s Liverpool, Pep Guardiola’s men are beginning a new campaign with both fresh faces in the squad and a redefined identity at the heart of their stadium. The revamp arrives at a time when the club is keen to refocus supporters on the future rather than dwelling on disappointment of the past.

The decision to redesign artwork at the main entrance comes amid wider ongoing redevelopment of the Etihad Campus, including plans to enhance the matchday fan experience and expand stadium facilities.

Manchester City have invested heavily in aligning their infrastructure with their on-field ambitions, ensuring that both players and fans experience a world-class environment.

Over the years, City have used their stadium design to symbolise dominance and success, often showcasing Premier League triumphs and their maiden Champions League honour. But the removal of last season’s crown has forced a new creative direction, one that places people and personality at the centre of the club’s identity rather than silverware alone.

Having seen their Premier League crown of four back-to-back seasons taken away from them by Arne Slot’s Liverpool last campaign, Manchester City have been forced to redesign their main entrance at the Etihad Stadium which once boasted their top-flight crowns.

Now, the new-look front-of-house has been finalised ahead of the return of supporters to the Etihad Stadium this weekend for Manchester City’s opening home game in the Premier League against Tottenham.

Decision makers have opted for the slogan “Welcome to Our City”, accompanied by an image of Pep Guardiola’s four-man leadership group; Erling Haaland, club captain Bernardo Silva, Rodri, and Ruben Dias.

For Guardiola and his players, the change could also serve as an additional motivational factor. Placing emphasis on the leadership quartet underlines the responsibility within the squad to drive standards, while reminding fans of the figures entrusted to lead City into a new era of competition.

In particular, the elevation of Bernardo Silva to the role of club captain highlights the importance of continuity and loyalty at a time of evolution within the team.

Looking ahead, it remains to be seen how the new branding will resonate with supporters, especially as the campaign unfolds. Should City return to their title-winning ways, the entrance could quickly become a symbolic backdrop for a new generation of success.

However, with rivals strengthening across the division, this season may instead represent the first real test of Manchester City’s resilience since Pep Guardiola’s dominance took hold.

Either way, the unveiling of the redesigned Etihad Stadium’s main entrance signals more than just a cosmetic change, but also the shifting priorities of a club determined to look forward, honour its leaders, and embrace the challenge of reclaiming its place at the summit of football.
