Premier League champions Manchester City are set to face off against former player Benjamin Mendy in mid-October over a pay dispute, it has been reported.

Mendy launched legal proceedings against his former Premier League employer, first reported in November 2023, by claiming “unauthorised deductions from wages” after he was charged with rape and sexual assault in 2021.

According to the information of Sky Sports News, Manchester City will be due in court next month after the club’s former defender Benjamin Mendy sued them over a dispute regarding pay.

It is explained that the Frenchman has been seeking the return of pay he says he is owed by the Premier League champions up until the end of his Etihad Stadium contract, which expired in June 2023.

Mendy was found not guilty of the aforementioned charges by a jury in a retrial at Chester Crown Court in July 2023.

The hearing involving Manchester City and Benjamin Mendy is reported to be scheduled to take place at the Manchester Employment Tribunal over two days starting on the 14 October, while Sky Sports News have contacted Manchester City for comment on the matter.

The former France international left-back became the Premier League’s most expensive defender when Manchester City paid a total transfer fee of £52 million to AS Monaco for his services in the summer transfer window of 2017.
