Officials at Manchester City are now close to finalising another key acquisition for their youth ranks this summer as they continue to build for the future of the club.

The latest developments come amid a wide range of deals being completed by recruitments chiefs within the Etihad Stadium, as they simultaneously advance in talks to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s 16-year-old midfielder Dexter Oliver.

The teenager could be accompanied in a move to the City Football Academy by a fellow player in his age group, as Manchester City also work to sign Aston Villa midfielder, Freddie Lawrie on a free agreement with compensation paid to his club.

Further afield and Manchester City are believed to have finalised a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Mahamadou Sangaré after the 18-year-old left the French champions to sign his first professional contract – a five-year deal – at the Etihad Stadium.

But the latest movements from Manchester City in the market of youth talents connects them to a name much closer to their base in the North-West, as they look to snatch one of the primary names developed at Liverpool.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who reveals that Manchester City are now closing in on the signing of Anfield’s highly-rated midfield talent, Kaylum Moss.

It is detailed that the Under-15 starlet is seen as a big talent at his age group and officials from the Etihad Stadium are now ‘working on the key details’ with their counterparts at Anfield to get a deal over the line.

The added focus on youth recruitment comes as Manchester City also do plenty of work on their senior squad, with perhaps only a new right-sided full-back to be added during the weeks that remain in the ongoing summer transfer window.

There were alterations in the third-choice goalkeeper position as Scott Carson vacated the club upon the expiry of his contract, replaced by Chelsea’s Marcus Bettinelli, while Rayan Ait-Nouri came in at left-back from Wolves.

In central midfield, there was the addition of Serie A’s Midfielder of the Season in Tijjani Reijnders arriving from AC Milan, while Rayan Cherki brought in flair and creativity into the attacking roles from Lyon.

It does however remain to be seen whether City can thrash out a deal for their preferred candidate in the right-back role, with clear differences in valuation between themselves and Newcastle United over Tino Livramento – a player they do not want to sell.
