Manchester United have made a significant and positive stride in their youth set-up.
According to Academy Arena, Man United have secured Jim Thwaites on a long-term professional contract.
This move marks a major step in their commitment to nurturing future talent.
Thwaites turned 17 this month and is the second starlet to sign a professional contract after Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
Teenage sensation Chido Obi-Martin signed a five-year deal with the club in November.
Thwaites is one of the most promising players in the United development teams.
He has also trained with the first team this season despite only being 16 at the time.
The starlet is a midfielder by trade and has bagged four goals and two assists in the ten Under 18 Premier League games this season.
He would love to follow Kobbie Mainoo’s footsteps to the senior team.
Thwaites is phenomenal with set-pieces.
His exceptional skill was on full display against Everton, where he scored a stunning free-kick from outside the box.
He is so advanced in his development that he made his Under-21 debut at just 16.
Amorim is keen on having technical players in his squad and Thwaites perfectly fits that profile.
The youngster is an intelligent passer of the ball and is considered a ‘dead ball master‘.
He has shown press resistant qualities and possess good acceleration.
Amorim showed faith in youth at Sporting CP and was rewarded with multiple players shining at the senior level.
Thwaites is widely regarded as having a very high ceiling and is fortunate to have the perfect manager for guidance in the first team.
Hopefully, the wonderkid can stay focused on his development with a clear mind, as distractions are abundant in today’s world.
