Several European clubs are showing interest in Sporting Lisbon’s standout forward Viktor Gyökeres as 2025 approaches. Among them, one Premier League side may opt to trigger his release clause to avoid a potential bidding war with other suitors.
According to Loïc Tanzi of L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring Gyökeres and plan to make a move for him in the summer of 2025. Reports suggest that PSG’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, has already reached out to the striker’s representatives.
At the same time, The Daily Briefing indicates that Manchester United are gearing up to enter the race for Gyökeres, with coach Rúben Amorim—who previously worked with him at Lisbon—spearheading their efforts.

A report this week from Diario AS revealed that Manchester United are ready to trigger Gyökeres’ €100 million release clause to close the potential deal. Nonetheless, one media member hopes the PSG-linked striker rejects reuniting with his former manager and heads to Anfield.
CNN reporter Andre Pipa, in an interview with Maisfutebol, encouraged Gyökeres to pass on reuniting with Amorim at Old Trafford and instead wait for a potential move to Liverpool, their heated rivals.
“They [United] have a coach who knows him, and I don’t know what Gyokeres idea is, whether he likes it or not, I personally prefer to see him in Liverpool,” Pipa said (h/t TEAMtalk).
“But if he has to go to United, I think it is a great contract for Amorim, because Amorim knows him, and the player knows the coach, and you know, there is a possibility, yes.”
