Manchester United are preparing to take a £10 million loss on Tyrell Malacia ahead of his anticipated Old Trafford exit this summer.
Indeed, the left-back’s Red Devils career is poised to come to an end three years after he became Erik ten Hag’s first signing as manager, after which he put pen to paper on a four-year deal in M16.
Malacia proceeded to play a sporadic role throughout his maiden campaign, primarily playing second fiddle to first-choice Luke Shaw. He made a total of 39 appearances throughout 2022/2023, 30 of which were from the off.

Then, upon the culmination of the Premier League term, Malacia sustained a knee injury so severe that he would go on to miss the entirety of his sophomore season.
He was out of action for a whopping 18 months before being deemed fit enough to make his long-awaited return in November 2024, meaning he missed the final stages of Ten Hag’s tenure.
Malacia featured eight times under Ruben Amorim, starting twice in the league and three times in the Europa League, but after failing to impress in the appearances he was granted, the Dutchman was shipped out on loan to PSV Eindhoven in January.
Despite ending his stint with an Eredivisie title to his name, the 25-year-old was again unable to cement his name on the teamsheet, prompting PSV to opt against paying his £8.5m buy option and send him back to Manchester instead.
It was revealed last week that Malacia was among a quintet of Reds to have informed the board of their desires to leave the club this summer. As a result, he, along with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, were told they did not have to report back to Carrington for the start of pre-season training on Monday like the rest of the squad; their returns were delayed to allow them to negotiate any potential moves.
Now, according to the Daily Record, Celtic have established their interest in the out-of-favour full-back, with United making it clear they will accept cut-price offers for him in order to earn at least some fee from his sale.
To avoid taking a PSR hit, United would need to recuperate £3.22m from the £13m they forked out for him.
