Manchester United are expected to be very busy in the summer transfer window, considering how dreadful they’ve been this season.

Ruben Amorim’s start to life at United has been a historic disaster.

He arrived at Old Trafford with a huge reputation as one of the best young managers in the game following his exploits at Sporting CP.

However, his United career has been a massive disappointment. Amorim has overseen just ten wins from his 24 games in charge across all competitions.

During that awful run, the Red Devils dropped out of the EFL Cup in the quarter-final and the FA Cup in the fifth round.

Amorim has won just five of his 16 Premier League games in charge, but his job is not under imminent threat, with the club backing him to turn things around.

United are believed to be planning a summer overhaul, and Amorim already has some ideas on how he can tweak the squad to his taste.

United preparing €30m bid to sign Geovany Quenda

Raiding his former employers could be Amorim’s first act in the summer.

United are reportedly ‘in contact’ with the player’s representatives but could face competition from Arsenal, who are also interested in his services.

If they pull off a deal, Quenda will be reunited with Amorim, who handed the talented forward his Sporting debut.

Quenda is naturally a winger but was often deployed as a wing-back under Amorim, which explains why he has frequently utilised Amad Diallo in that role.

Since Amorim left Sporting, Quenda has been restored to his preferred role as a winger or an inside number 10.

With United in dire need of attacking reinforcements, and Quenda has become a priority target for the Red Devils.

They’re prepared to test Sporting’s resolve with a €30 million (£25m) bid in the summer.

The Portuguese starlet, who has been likened to his compatriot and former United winger Nani, has been in fine form for Sporting.

At just 17, he has established himself as a key player in the first team, featuring 41 times across all competitions while returning two goals and seven assists.

He could be a shrewd acquisition for the Red Devils if he can handle the pressure that comes with playing for a club of United’s stature.
