Manchester United are looking to improve their midfield options with the signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson Dos Santos from Atalanta.
According to a report from Italian publication Il Giorno, Manchester United have already made moves to sign the player, and they will face competition from cross-town rivals, Manchester City. The report claims that Ederson could spark a Derby between the two clubs.
Ederson has proven himself to be a reliable performer for Atalanta, and there is no doubt that he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League. He could be a key player for Manchester United if he joins the club.
Fabio Capello has claimed that the 25-year-old Atalanta star is “out of this world”. He was linked with Liverpool last year. Tottenham were keeping tabs on the player as well.
Manchester United need more quality and depth in the middle of the park. They need someone who can help control the game from the middle of the park and add creativity to the side as well. The Brazilian midfielder is entering the peak years of his career, and he will want to test himself at the highest level. The move to Manchester United could be ideal for him. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the player could be tempted to join them.
Atalanta are unlikely to sell him for cheap, and Manchester United will have to be prepared to pay a premium in order to sign the player.

The South American could be a quality addition for Manchester City as well.
They are lacking in depth in the middle of the park. Players like Mateo Kovačić and Matheus Nunes have not been able to live up to expectations, and Manchester City should look to bring in an upgrade. The Brazilian midfielder seems like the ideal fit for them. He could form a quality partnership with Rodri at the heart of the Manchester City midfield. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
