Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is now reportedly set to extend his deal with the Bavarian giants, as Manchester United might have missed the boat.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the most explosive full-backs in the world. He signed for the Bundesliga side in January 2019, and has been a regular feature in the starting lineup for several years.
However, the Canadian’s future has been dominating the headlines in Bavaria over the past few months, as his contract with the club is due to expire at the end of the season.
This situation has alerted several clubs, including the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Moreover, Man United have been keeping close tabs on the situation, as Ruben Amorim’s squad certainly needs some reinforcements on the left flank, especially amidst Luke Shaw’s seemingly never-ending injury ordeal.
But while the Red Devils are hoping to sign the Ghana native on a free transfer next summer, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg reveals an unexpected new twist in the saga.

The source reveals that the German club has suddenly managed to make a significant breakthrough in the negotiations with Davies and his entourage.
While the two parties have yet to define a full agreement, Plettenberg claims the details are being sorted, as another round of negotiations is expected to take place around Christmas.
The journalist adds that Man United are aware of the new developments, realizing that the left-back is likely to pen a new contract at Bayern.
This would be a major blow to the Red Devils’ hopes of luring the Canada international to Carrington, so they might have to start looking elsewhere.
