Mainz and Rangers enquire about Thierno Ballo | OneFootball

Thierno Ballo (23) is a wanted man this summer. According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Mainz, Rangers and Ajax are all monitoring the player’s situation and have made enquiries to sign the newly-capped international.

The 23-year-old has a contract with Wolfsberger AC until 2027 having joined the club from Chelsea in 2022. Since his arrival in Austria, Ballo has played 102 games across all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing 15 assists. Predominantly a left-winger, the Ivorian born Austria international can also operate centrally.

Following the departure of Jonathan Burkardt to Eintracht Frankfurt for €23m, Mainz will want to spend a percentage of that on replacing last season’s top scorer at the club. But they face competition from Rangers to sign Ballo. The Scottish side – who have recently been taken over by a US consortium of investors – are also monitoring the player’s situation with the club also seeing their offer for Southampton’s Sam Edozie rejected, according to Nizaar Kinsella.
