Celtic returned to action this weekend following a midweek heartbreak against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. Their lion-hearted performance went in vain at Allianz Arena following a scrappy last-gasp equalizer from Alphonso Davies. But the Hoops suffered another setback, this time in the Premiership as their trip to Easter Road finished 2-1 in favour of Hibernian.
Kasper Schmeichel: 6
Made a great save to deny Kieron Bowie minutes after Josh Campbell’s early opener. Could have done little to stop the latter on both occasions.
Alistair Johnston: 7
Had an attempt denied by Jordan Smith in Hibs’ goal. Made overlapping runs, and created a few chances high up the pitch from the right-hand flank.
Cameron Carter-Vickers: 7
Showed his strength and resilience in deep defence by dominating the duels. Was spot-on with his tackles but looked unsettled at times against Bowie and Martin Boyle.
Auston Trusty: 6.5
Could have done better during Campbell’s second in the first-half injury time. Bowie and Boyle troubled him with their physicality and directness. Did well to play it out from the back with his passing game.
Greg Taylor: 5
Was at fault during Campbell’s early opener. Looked lethargic down the left and the gaffer Brendan Rodgers took him off at the break for Jeffrey Schlupp.
Callum McGregor: 6.5
Lacked composure deep down the midfield despite dominating possession. Lost a few duels and had rare involvements in the transition play.
Arne Engels: 6.5
Was closely monitored by the Hibernian midfield as the Belgian was not allowed enough space to make free runs in and around the attacking third. Hatate’s arrival uplifted his game with more link-up football.
Luke McCowan: 6
Did not offer much in terms of carrying the ball forward from the deep and operating in the advanced areas of the pitch. Made way for Hatate at halftime.

Nicolas Kuhn: 6
Was forced to leave the pitch against Bayern soon after finding the net. He made it to the starting XI this afternoon but failed to replicate his midweek performance while featuring from the flank.
Daizen Maeda: 7.5
Continued his stellar form as he reduced the deficit midway through the second half. Was a constant threat even though the Japanese ace did not have many touches upfront.
Adam Idah: 5.5
Was largely ineffective while spearheading the Bhoys attack. Failed to make any noteworthy contribution before being subbed off at the break for Jota.
Jeffrey Schlupp: 6.5
The veteran Crystal Palace loanee injected pace, power and high work ethic on the left.
Jota: 6.5
Had a positive impact upfront since replacing Idah at half-time.
Reo Hatate: 7
Restored the balance in the middle of the park and also laid it on for his compatriot to make it 2-1.
