With the draw for the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League taking place on Thursday, Barcelona learned their eight opponents for the first round of the competition.

And, as fate would have it, the Blaugrana have been drawn against reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain.

It means a reunion for the Blaugrana with their former manager, Luis Enrique, and ex-star winger Ousmane Dembele.

Luis Enrique reacts to Barcelona draw

Speaking to the media earlier today, ahead of PSG’s Ligue 1 game against Toulouse, Enrique opened up on the thought of going up against Barcelona in the league phase of the competition, describing it as a “positive and negative feeling at the same time.”

“For me, it’s a positive and negative feeling. It’s nice to be back playing in Barcelona because it’s my home, and it’s great to play against them because they like to play good football, they’re attacking,” said Enrique, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

“But at the same time, if I speak from the heart, they’re the club that’s helped me the most, and I’m not very happy about playing against them. It’s a difficult feeling to evaluate,” he added.

PSG will defend their Champions League crown in a demanding league phase, where they will face Barcelona, Athletic Club, Atalanta, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting CP, Tottenham, and Newcastle.

As for the Blaugrana, apart from PSG, they will face Club World Cup champions Chelsea, Eintracht Frankfurt, Club Brugge, Olympiacos, Slavia Praha, FC Copenhagen, and Newcastle United.

The match against PSG was something that Barcelona president Joan Laporta had been wishing for, and it will certainly be a special occasion, more so if the Spotify Camp Nou is ready to host matches.

The last time the two teams met was in the quarter-finals of the 2023/24 Champions League, when Luis Enrique’s PSG eliminated Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona.
