Lucas Vazquez marked a significant milestone in his Real Madrid career by playing his 250th La Liga match during the team’s victory over Alaves.

This achievement came in his 10th season with the team, and he marked the moment with a captain’s armband, making him even more of a standout figure in the match.

Not only did he lead the team, but he also scored the opening goal, further cementing his role as a key player that evening. His goal set the tone for the match, providing Real Madrid with the early advantage they needed.

Reflecting on the game, Vazquez expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, despite a few moments of weakness in the latter stages of the match.

“We are happy with the victory. We played a great game until the 80th minute. They conceded two goals due to two lapses in concentration and we suffered a little more than we should have,” the captain told Real Madrid TV.

“With the game we played, we deserved a better ending, but you have to look on the bright side and we did a lot of things well.”

Vazquez described his goal as a pivotal moment early in the game. Vinicius Jr. created the opportunity by reaching the goal line and setting him up, allowing him to score and contribute to the team’s success.

“It was the beginning of the match and I saw a clear play, Vini Jr. reached the goal line and went to see me. I am happy to help the team with this goal.”

Vazquez also touched on the role that Carlo Ancelotti, the manager, plays in the team’s development. According to him, Ancelotti encourages a fast and direct style of play, focusing on quick transitions. This approach is paying off, with the team improving steadily.

“The manager asks us to be vertical, we have a team that is very quick in transitions. We are on an upward trend, we are seeing better and better play.

“We all want to continue improving to reach the important part of the season in the best possible shape.”
