Luana Bühler: “It’s a perfect ending to a really nice season” | OneFootball

Luana Bühler described the 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Saturday as the ‘perfect ending’ as our 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League came to a close.

The Switzerland international started her eighth consecutive game in Lilywhite in the season finale at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and put in another strong performance in front of 10,000 supporters, winning 100% of her tackles and ground duels, before being replaced in the 67th minute by Molly Bartrip.

Jess Naz and a wonder strike from Drew Spence struck late on to secure our final three points of the season, as we finished the campaign sixth in the table and four points behind Manchester United.

Asked about her reflections on the game and the season overall, Luana said: “It was a really good start to the game, we scored early and had a lot of possession, some nice chances, we couldn’t finish it off right away but with substitutes coming in… it was a great day, great game to end the season.

“It’s a perfect ending to a really nice season, we grew as a team a lot, with the staff and everyone around us, and there’s more to come next season, which gives us really positive vibes.”

It has been a history-making campaign, reaching the Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final for the first time in our history while also beating Arsenal for the first-time ever in the north London derby back in December.

When posed with question about her highlight of the season, it was difficult for the defender to pick out just one but wanted to outline the progress made over the past eight months.

“Of course, I have to say Wembley, I mean, a full-packed stadium, playing in a cup final, but I have to say the whole season was a nice journey,” she added.

“We grew, we had a lot of challenges, but we came back all the time, I have a lot of highlights from the whole season.”
