Liverpool winger Ben Doak is on the verge of joining Bournemouth in a deal worth £25m.
Bournemouth have targeted the teenager as Dango Ouattara edges closer to an exit. Ouattara is nearing a £42.5m move to Brentford, as part of a potential transfer merry-go-round, that could free Yoane Wissa to leave West London.
Bournemouth are prepared to reinvest that windfall in Doak, who has returned to Liverpool following a loan spell at Middlesbrough.
The 19-year-old scored three times and provided seven assists in 21 Championship starts last season. Despite starting less than half of Middlesbrough’s league games, Doak ranked second in the Championship for carries into penalty area and eighth for progressive carries.
Doak has caught the eye during Liverpool’s pre-season, scoring in the friendly win over Athletic Club, but the presence of Mohamed Salah limits his chances of first-team football.
The Guardian are reporting that Bournemouth are now close to reaching a full agreement with Liverpool with negotiations at advanced stage.
Doak is keen to secure regular senior football at Premier League level to ensure his place in the Scotland squad. He has won six caps for Scotland since his debut in 2024.
Doak has been withdrawn from the Liverpool squad for tonight’s Premier League opener against suitors Bournemouth.
