Liverpool ready to sell Federico Chiesa as Lazio eye move | OneFootball

Liverpool could offload several players in the summer transfer window as Arne Slot looks to sculpt the squad to his taste.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold could leave the club for free in the summer, while Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Joe Gomez also face uncertain futures.

One player who could also leave is Federico Chiesa. The 27-year-old joined in the summer window from Juventus for a fee of £10 million, but he hasn’t played enough games, with injuries mostly restricting his appearances.

The Italian came on as a substitute against Newcastle United at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final and scored a brilliant goal.

A host of Italian clubs are looking to sign him, including Napoli and AC Milan, and as per Tv Play, Serie A outfit Lazio have also joined the race.

He is on a £180k-per-week deal at Anfield, and Italian clubs will struggle to match his wages. However, Lazio are heavily interested in bringing him to Italy.

The report claims that Lazio have approached Liverpool and asked about the player’s availability. The Reds would be willing to sell him if they receive a fee of around £12.5m, and a small percentage on the resale.

Liverpool would also be willing to send him on loan in the summer with an obligation, and Lazio are thrilled with the idea of having a player like Chiesa.

Arne Slot should give Federico Chiesa more chances

Chiesa struggled with injuries since he joined Liverpool, but he wasn’t given proper chances when he regained full fitness.

It didn’t help the cause that Liverpool went out of the FA Cup so early. Slot would have given chances to fringe players (Chiesa included) to excel in the cup competition.

Liverpool have only nine matches left in the Premier League, and they are fighting to win the league title. Chiesa showed quality in his cameo role against the Magpies, and the Reds boss should use him (even if it is from the bench) in the final few games.
