Liverpool appear to be preparing for a dramatic reshuffle in their forward line, with a fresh report from AS claiming the Reds are now ready to do “everything in their power” to sign Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. This move comes as uncertainty grows around Luis Diaz, who is said to have communicated his desire to leave Anfield amid firm interest from Bayern Munich and Saudi clubs.

The Brazilian, still only 24, fits the profile Liverpool have long admired in a modern attacker. His versatility across the front three is a major attraction, with last season’s statistics underlining his adaptability. Across 54 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions, Rodrygo featured 31 times on the right, 12 times from the left and 10 as a central striker.
According to AS, Liverpool have now entered the race alongside Arsenal, with a clear intention to push forward negotiations. The report states that Liverpool “will send an emissary to the capital [Madrid] in the coming days or weeks to initiate official contacts,” once they finalise Diaz’s future.

With Real Madrid placing a valuation of €100 million (£86.6 million) on Rodrygo, Liverpool’s willingness to invest so significantly could point to a broader strategy under Arne Slot’s leadership.
Rodrygo’s appeal stems not just from his numbers but from his function within tactical systems. At Real Madrid, he has performed across all attacking roles, offering not just depth but dynamism. With Liverpool’s attack entering a transitional phase, the ability to cover multiple roles is a priority.

AS adds another twist to the saga, stating that Bayern Munich might also make a move for Rodrygo if their attempt to sign Diaz falls through. This transfer triangle could shape the next phase of Liverpool’s summer, depending on which domino falls first.
The idea of Rodrygo pulling on the red shirt is hugely exciting. This is not just a name for the sake of it. This is a player who’s thrived in Champions League pressure, played under elite managers and delivered for one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Rodrygo’s versatility cannot be overstated. He is not a player stuck in one system or tied to one flank. Whether cutting in from the left, stretching defenders on the right or dropping into a central role, he brings sharp movement and an eye for goal. He’s scored crucial goals on the biggest stages and shown a football intelligence that would thrive in the Premier League.
If Liverpool are truly willing to go “all in” and match Real Madrid’s valuation, it signals a real change in direction from the more conservative FSG strategy of recent years. The thought of Rodrygo combining with players like Wirtz, Salah or even a new number nine is enough to get pulses racing.
Yes, €100 million is a massive price, but if that’s the market for elite attackers with years ahead of them, then this one could be worth every penny.
