While an agreement for Milos Kerkez is reportedly complete, it has not been formally announced by the club quite yet. However, the Reds are already keen to look at a fourth summer signing.

To you and me, the Bournemouth left-back is Liverpool's. His medical still has to take place and then the media team will have their way with him, but these are merely formalities. Everything else is done.

But the transfer spending will not stop there. Jarell Quansah is on the brink of agreeing a move to Leverkusen, having received the 'here we go' from Fabrizio Romano on Sunday afternoon.

He will need to be replaced, and a lot of work has gone into assessing centre-back targets in case Liverpool found themselves in this very position. Ibrahima Konate is at risk of leaving for example and Virgil Van Dijk will need a successor to be in place and up to speed before he leaves in 2027.

Now that the defensive engine room has seen movement, an approach for a replacement is now nigh.

The decisive factor in a move for Guehi

In his report about Quansah's exit, Paul Joyce at The Times reaffirmed our interest in Marc Guehi.

He wrote: "Liverpool are interested in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, who has 12 months remaining on his contract. Palace's asking price will determine whether Liverpool move now or look to sign the player on a free."

Despite other clubs having looked at the England international in the past, it seems as though the club might have a free run at him this summer, although the price tag will be decisive.

Of course, the Eagles playing European football this season will be a tempting factor, but would his participation be enough to warrant Palace losing out on potentially £50m in a transfer fee?

Furthermore, Liverpool have Champions League football which is superior to the Europa League, and the promise to challenge for the Premier League title might be too much for the defender to ignore.
